Vamos a aprender primero en qué contextos usamos morir.

Usamos morir en expresiones como: morir ahogado…morir asesinado…morir arruinado
Lucas:

Ah, sí… también usamos morir con enfermedades, ¿verdad? Como, por ejemplo, Mi abuelo murió de un infarto. My grandfather died from a heart attack.

Y tu abuela, ¿de qué murió?
Lucas:
Mi abuela murió de cáncer de pulmón. My grandmother died from lung cancer.
Cinta:
Muy bien. Efectivamente, con las enfermedades usamos siempre morir.
Lucas:
¿Y qué expresiones usan morirse?
Cinta:
Usamos morirse con la preposición por y un verbo en infinitivo, por ejemplo: Me muero por bailar.
Lucas:
I am dying to dance.
Cinta:
También decimos: morirse por algo… por ejemplo, ahora mismo, me muero por un cigarrillo…. O morirse por alguien… Me muero por ti.
Lucas:
You’re dying for a cigarette? You’re mad about me? Pero, ¡tú no fumas y yo tengo novia!
Cinta:
Claro, yo no fumo y tú tienes novia, pero son dos ejemplos fáciles y muy claros, ¿verdad? Otras expresiones muy comunes con morirse son: morirse de risa… morirse de envidia… morirse de aburrimiento… morirse de miedo…
Lucas:
to die laughing… to be green with envy... to get bored to death... to be scared stiff… It’s very easy to know the meaning of these expressions when I hear them, but it’s not so easy to use them correctly when it comes to writing or talking. That’s why I need to practice all these new expressions I learned today, so that I don’t forget them. And keep my eyes and ears open for new contexts as well.
