Complete the following sentences with the correct form of the preterit of the verb, or verbs, in parenthesis. Note that all sentences below have been picked from the news stories presented in this website thus far.
Please note that in item 24, the verb huir, to flee, is irregular in the preterit and undergoes the same changes that the verb leer, to read, and for the same reasons. Its conjugation is: huí, huíste, huyó, huímos, huísteis, huyeron.
Also note that in order to conjugate the pronominal verbs ending in se, you need to split them in two parts: first the part corresponding to the pronoun –me, te, se, nos, os, se– and then the conjugation of the infinitive as you would conjugate any other verb in the preterit. For example: Yo me independicé a los dieciocho años. (independizarse)
