Se Emotivo

These kind of pronouns are irrelevant to the meaning of the verb since it does not play a grammatical role in the sentence. However, it adds to the action a sense of completion. It is usually related to verbs of consumption, verbs that indicate a process that shows the consumption of an object, such as beber, comer, fumar, gastar, apostar o jugar, leer, and escuchar because it intensifies the meaning of the verb.

Se bebió una botella de vino.
He drank up a bottle of wine.

These pronouns have their own conjugation for each subject pronoun:

Notice that this pronoun is always placed in front of the verb and not after.

Se Aspectual

Unlike the “se emotive” pronoun, these pronouns play a grammatical role in the sentence. If left out, the sentence gets a different meaning or becomes grammatically incorrect. These kind of pronouns provide the sentence an "aspectual nuance", meaning that they give the verb a different meaning. In example the verb "dormir" means to sleep while "dormirse" means to fall asleep.Duermo hasta tarde los domingos porque no tengo que trabajar.

I sleep in on Sundays because I don't have to work.

Se duerme cada vez que ve esa película.
He falls asleep every time he sees that movie.

These pronouns have their own conjugation for each subject pronoun:

Yo me despierto temprano cada día.
te despiertas temprano cada día.
Él/Ella/Usted se despierta temprano cada día.
Nosotros nos despertamos temprano cada día.
Vosotros os despertáis temprano cada día.
Ellos/Ellas/Ustedes se despertaron temprano cada día.

Other verbs that use se aspectual are morir/morirse, ir/irse, llevar/llevarse, despertar/despertarse, and dormir/dormirse.
