The Imperative with pronouns

When the imperative is followed by a direct or indirect object pronoun, it is normally placed after the verb in the simple tenses and before the verb in the perfect tenses.

1.- Pronombres de objeto directo
SingularPlural
Masculino lolos
Femenino lalas

Examples:

- ¿Dónde pongo los platos?
- Ponlos encima de la mesa.

Mira las fotos de las vacaciones ---> Míralas.

Pidan un vaso de agua ---> Pídanlo.

2.- Pronombres de objeto indirecto
Indirect Object Pronouns

Él/Ella/Usted le (se)**
Nosotros nos
Ellos/Ellas/Ustedes les (se)**
* The pronoun "me" is not used as the imperative does not have first person.
**The third person singular and plural personal pronoun changes in combination with the direct object pronoun.

Examples:

Ayuda a tu abuelo a subir las escaleras ---> Ayúdalo a subir las escaleras.

Da la buena noticia a tu madre ---> Dale la buena noticia.

Di a Jose que le echo de menos --> Dile que lo echo de menos

Orden de los pronombres

Notice that when the direct and indirect object pronouns appear in the same sentence, the indirect object pronoun is always placed before the direct object pronoun.

Examples:

Compra una camisa a tu hermana ---> Cómprasela.

Sube estas cajas a la señora Nieves ---> Súbeselas.

Regalemos juguetes a los niños por Navidad ---> Regalémoselos por Navidad.
